REDWOODS doesn’t produce dark music just for the sake of it. She welcomes you to join the darkness.
She builds a Barbican-style brutalist landscape defined by the hard 808s and dystopic synth leads of “One’s Last,” the out-of-this-world IDM-infused beat of “Sustained,” and the frantic, tense fast BPMs of “Rapture.” This kinetic energy is balanced by the contrast between dreaminess and gritty saturation in “Bells Of Bliss,” and the vocals wrapped in thick psychedelia in “Tide Is Rising,” while “Jammed Realities” delivers a beautifully trippy, blurred groove. The journey descends further with the spooky beat of “Mirror Soul” before finally exhaling into the warmly saturated sound of “Don’t Blame Me.” Unbelievable aesthetics from a rarely good debut.
P.S. The dense way of this article is no accident. It is our deliberate attempt to capture the chaotic essence of the album. Whether your liked it or hated makes no difference. What matters is to go to listen to the album and support the artist in any possible way.
