Cracking the goosebumps code, one story at a time.

The Standard Short Long Drop [London Review]

“The Standard Short Long Drop” delivers a riveting exploration of class, integrity, and an improbable bond set against the backdrop of the daunting Victorian criminal justice system. In this tale, Ludley, a young man facing imminent death, finds his destiny taking an unforeseen turn when granted a reprieve on one condition – becoming the executioner for his enigmatic older cellmate, Alistair. Our take: While the premise is intriguing and the cinematic atmosphere commendable, the play falls short in sustaining audience’s engagement throughout. Nevertheless, it remains a noteworthy fringe show deserving of your time.

3 out of 5 stars.
